Charm of Finches are Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes and they drown their audiences in angelic harmonies and songs of melancholy and whimsy.
The duo wowed audiences at Canberra’s National Folk Festival and Port Fairy Folk Festival this year, taking out the 2017 National Folk Festival’s Gill Rees Young Musicians Memorial Award.
They started playing folk festivals at the ages of 14 and 11, and they’ve already released a debut album “Staring at the Starry Ceiling” which was named one of the top releases of 2016 by ABC Radio National.
William Alexander is a young folk singer with an old soul. Brought up and inspired by older songs, William seeks to keep tradition alive as well as bring forth new stories in the form of his poetic, ballad-style songwriting.
Born in Bourke NSW, Alexander spent his youth in the red dirt outback before heading to the bush outside Dubbo to live in a small community.
After moving to Victoria when he was 13, William honed in on his songwriting and made his performance debut at 14. Since then William released his debut record in 2015 which he took on tour in September of that year. 2016 sees him living in the country again and releasing his second record “Had I No Heart”. Tickets at the door: $15 or $10 concession.
