Travel back to where it all began with The Leroys; to the lonely country crossroads where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil, to the hard time, sweaty birthplace of the Delta Blues, and earlier still to the old-time spirituals and folk songs of a people bought and sold. Warren Ellerton (guitar) and Del Widdowson (vocals) first played these songs here together nearly 30 years ago, and now with Iain Stewart (harp) they again faithfully re-create the sounds of early 20th century down-home blues. As lo-fi as it comes, these songs ain’t pretty; they ache and they moan, telling sad stories of prejudice and poverty, loss and death. This is the kind of blues whose job it is to haunt and transport you. So, dust your broom and travel back to the beginning…back to the birth of the blues. Rural & Delta Blues (Acoustic)
The Festival schedule for The Leroys will be available soon.
