Geoff Achison is a man who wears many hats; an award winning Australian blues musician, a consummate performer, some time music teacher and a committed touring artist. He is, in short, the blues man’s blues man.

While he enjoys all of these roles, he states unequivocally that live performance remains his main focus and passion, that writing, recording and touring all just go hand in hand with that.

A self-taught musician with an incomparable style, Geoff’s career has spanned three decades and three continents, Australia, Europe and the US. His love of jamming and live performance has stood him in good stead over the years, winning him multiple awards and securing him invites on stage with personal heroes and some of the biggest names in the blues including Jorma Kaukonen, Chris Wilson, The Allman Brothers and Les Paul. That’s a pedigree not to be taken lightly.

This year Geoff’s thrilled to be bringing his unique style and energetic performance back to the Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival.

“It’s remarkable isn’t it?” Achison said enthusiastically. “From little more than an idea, a weekend music event has emerged in one of Victoria’s most beautiful cities and provided a springboard for countless musical events and artists that are now dotted all over the calendar. Bendigo has become a destination for musicians and music lovers alike. I’ve always had an amazing time in at the festival and I can’t wait to get back.”

Getting back promises to be something special this year; Achison will be joined by his band, The Souldiggers, which recently celebrated its 20 anniversary, on November 7 in Rosalind Park and will also be taking part in the BB King tribute show ‘The Thrill Is Gone’ on November 6 at The Federation Room.

It’s this community oriented nature that Geoff said sets the Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival apart.

“Music events that have strong community support nearly always seem to be the most positive and happy for everyone involved. They provide an opportunity for locals to celebrate and enjoy their city and attract visitors, which helps businesses thrive. Besides that, there’s so much music to choose from, you’re bound to see an artist you’ll love and probably discover a new one or two. What’s not to like?”

Hailed as one of the finest blues player in Australia and having graced the stages of festivals around the world, it’s guaranteed you’ll find something to like in Geoff Achison’s highly unique and original take on the blues sound at this year at the Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival.
